Bioelectrical impedance vector analysis (BIVA) to evaluate seasonal variations in body composition of elite soccer players
نویسندگان
چکیده
Background The body composition and its variation in time can affect the performances of soccer players. The body composition measuring techniques are based on a quantitative approach founded on indirect estimations of fat mass and lean body mass. The BIVA allows us to directly see the athlete’s body composition by means of impedance vector measuring (Z vector), irrespective of weigh and body hydration status. The BIVA can classify hydration and mass variations of the soft tissues and recent observations testify that the higher the soccer player’s level, the larger the quantity of soft tissue. The purpose of this study is to observe the season variations of the soft tissues, as an indirect estimation of the nutritional condition of Italian Serie A elite male soccer players.

Innovative assessment of seasonal variations in body composition of elite soccer players with the integrated analysis DXA-BIVA
Background Body composition (BC) and its changes over time may influence performance in soccer players. BC assessment techniques are mainly based on quantitative evaluation, originating from model-based indirect estimates of FatFree Mass and Fat Mass. DXA, particularly the advanced iDXA technology, is considered to be precise enough for this kind of assessment. On the other hand, Bio Impedance ...

PURPOSE The assessment of body hydration is a complex process, and no measurement is valid for all situations. Bioelectrical impedance vector analysis (BIVA) has emerged as a relatively novel technique for assessing hydration status in sports. We applied BIVA a) to determine hydration changes evoked by an intense synchronized swimming (SS) training session; b) to characterize the sample of youn...
متن کاملA practical guide to bioelectrical impedance analysis using the example of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
Bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) is a simple, inexpensive, quick and non-invasive technique for measuring body composition. The clinical benefit of BIA can be further enhanced by combining it with bioelectrical impedance vector analysis (BIVA). However, there is a substantial lack of information on the practical aspects of BIA/BIVA for those primarily interested in learning how to use and...

BACKGROUND The prevalence of abnormal nutritional status has increased in children and adolescents. Nutritional assessment is important for monitoring the health and nutritional status. Bioelectrical impedance vector analysis (BIVA) combines changes in tissue hydration and structure and body composition that can be assessed. OBJECTIVES The objective of this study was to use BIVA to evaluate n...
متن کاملReference distribution of the bioelectrical impedance vector in healthy term newborns.
Bioelectrical impedance vector analysis (BIVA) is a new method that is used for the routine monitoring of the variation in body fluids and nutritional status with assumptions regarding body composition values. The aim of the present study was to determine bivariate tolerance intervals of the whole-body impedance vector and to describe phase angle (PA) values for healthy term newborns aged 7-28 ...
